Weida, im Süden der DDR gelegen, wurde erstmalig 1152 namentlich erwahnt. Im Laufe seiner Entwicklung bildete sich vorrangig die Textil- und Lederindustrie heraus. In den letzten Jahren entwickelte sich hier eine leistungsfahige Elektronikindustrie.
Der VEB Wetron ist Produzent von elektronischen Reglern fir viele Anwendungsgebiete der Klima- und Verfahrenstechnik.
DM 3 QJ ist die Amateurfunkklubstation des VEB Wetron Weida, die Ausbildungsklubstation des Kreises Gera-Land.
Weida, in the south of the G.D.R. was mentioned for the first time in the year 1152. In course of its development textile and leather industry arose.

The Wetron factory is a producer of electronic controllers for industries.
DM 3 QJ is the amateur radio station of the Wetron factory. It is also an education centre for radio operators of the district of Gera.
